Dubuque Rescue Mission

The Dubuque Rescue Mission has existed in downtown Dubuque for over 90 years, beginning as a soup line in the 1930s. Today, we continue providing food to anyone in need, serving over 200 meals to men, women, and children each day.

We provide shelter for up to 88 homeless men each night, and work with them to meet their physical and spiritual needs, find meaningful work, and secure permanent housing. Each of our shelter residents has the opportunity to work in one of our departments while they stay with us.

Our two thrift stores offer vouchers to families in need of clothing, furniture, and household items. Our urban garden is a lush green space amid the concrete landscape of downtown, open to anyone in need of quiet and healing through connection with nature. 100% of the produce grown in our garden goes to our free meal program, ensuring fresh, nourishing food for the most vulnerable members of our community.
