Maquoketa Area Family YMCA

The YMCA serves people of all ages, abilities, and beliefs. Programs vary from swim lessons, day camp, dance and youth sports for kids to group water and land exercise classes for adults. Our scholarship program helps to assure that everyone, regardless of their ability to pay, is able to be served by our YMCA. Annually the Endowment Fund helps to fund the most pressing needs of our Y. In previous years we've utilized the interest from the endowment to create a child watch area and replace soccer goals that were beyond repair. By creating a child watch area it freed up our multi purpose room so we could offer dance classes for area children, while the replacement of the soccer goals allowed us to continue to offer a much needed sport for area kids.

About 7 years ago a group of dedicated Y volunteers came together to determine how they could see that the Y was here for generations to come. At that time they decided to formalize our Heritage Club Endowment Program through the Community Foundation. Through this program our volunteers work to 'Secure Our Future' through Endowment. To date our volunteers have secured over 60 commitments totaling over $600,000 toward our goal of $1,000,000 in commitments. Annually our volunteer board reviews the most pressing needs of our organization and determines the best way to utilize earnings, always setting as a priority to apply funds to areas that will help us to serve more people in need.
