What is Great Give Day?

Great Give Day is a 24-hour, online giving event organized annually by the Community Foundation of
Greater Dubuque to grow philanthropy in its seven-county region, including Allamakee, Clayton, Clinton,
Delaware, Dubuque, Jackson and Jones Counties. The event will take place this year on Thursday, May
14, 2020. The minimum donation is $10 and there is no maximum. Bonus grants will be made available to
amplify charitable donations. The goal is to inspire the community to come together for 24 hours to
contribute as many charitable dollars as possible to support the work of local nonprofit organizations.
Great Give Day is based on other successful giving days hosted by community foundations across the
country.

How does it work?

The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque has set up an online giving platform at GreatGiveDay.org
with searchable profiles of participating nonprofits. All donations will be processed through this website,
which allows nonprofits and donors to track the giving on May 14 via the site’s leaderboards. Anyone can
donate to their favorite participating nonprofits via GreatGiveDay.org. Donations may also be scheduled
through the website beginning on May 4.

Why give through Great Give Day?

While we encourage community members to support local nonprofits with year-round giving, Great Give
Day was created as a 24-hour, community-wide celebration of giving and nonprofits. Plus, gifts made on
Great Give Day are amplified by bonus dollars from local corporate sponsors.

How are donations amplified?

The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque works with corporate partners, donors and affiliate
foundations to secure bonus dollars to be awarded to participating nonprofits on Great Give Day through
hourly prizes and grand prizes. The prize schedule will depend on the total bonus dollars raised and will
be posted at www.GreatGiveDay.org once it is finalized.

How do I make a donation?

On May 14 from 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., go to www.GreatGiveDay.org and use your credit or debit card to
donate to any nonprofit that has registered to participate. You search for a nonprofit by name or by
service area. Participating nonprofits will have a donation page on www.GreatGiveDay.org where you can
choose the amount you want to donate from $10 on up. You may also schedule gifts through the website
ahead of time beginning on May 4.

Is there a minimum or maximum donation I can make through the Giving Day?

The minimum donation amount is $10. There is no maximum donation. All gifts made on
www.GreatGiveDay.org are nonrefundable.

What if I accidentally contribute the wrong amount and need a refund?

Contact the Community Foundation as soon as possible at 563.588.2700.

How much of my donation goes to the nonprofit?

After credit card and vendor fees, 94.9% of donations will go to your organization. (Fees include a 3%
processing fee from our online platform provider, CiviCore, and a credit card processing fee of 2.1%.) When
you check out, you will have the option to cover these fees, which will increase your gift by 5.1%. The
Community Foundation does not receive any revenue from the transaction and processing fee and
provides Great Give Day as a free service to our endowed nonprofit partners.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

All donations made through www.GreatGiveDay.org are 100% tax deductible. Once your gift is processed
on May 14, you will immediately receive an email receipt confirming the deduction from the Community
Foundation of Greater Dubuque. Please save this email for your records. By selecting a specific nonprofit
to receive your donation, your gift is restricted for that nonprofit and will not be given to any other
nonprofit. You cannot designate your donation for a specific program at a nonprofit.

Which nonprofits are participating in the Giving Day?

Visit www.GreatGiveDay.org for a complete list of participating nonprofits. Only nonprofits that have
endowed funds at the Community Foundation and have created a profile on the website are eligible to
participate.

Can I give to more than one organization?

Yes, you may make multiple donations either in separate transactions, or a single transaction. Only the
nonprofits registered on www.GreatGiveDay.org may receive gifts during this event.

Is my donation information secure?

Yes. The Great Give Day website is powered by CiviCore and the payment processor, NeonPay, is a
secure PCI-Level 1 compliant processor for donating to your favorite charities. You can be sure your
personal information is protected when you donate through our GreatGiveDay.org CiviCore platform. For
