Breast Cancer Survivors of the the Tri States Endowment fund

History
Images & Information started as a style show promoting awareness and celebrating survivorship of breast cancer. The first show was in 1993. The show grew into a charitable organization starting in 2002. At that time, Images & Information gave a small amount of money to the family of a deceased breast cancer woman. From there it grew into larger donations to multiple breast cancer survivors. It was obvious that there was much need in our community. Therefore, Images & Information decided to start an Endowment Fund thru the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque. This will insure that there will be help for breast cancer survivors in the future as needed. The fund was started with profits from Images & Information Style Show, community Fund Raisers and donations from individuals and groups. Images & Information's last Style Show was in 2016 and the endowment fund is now our focus to assist people in need.

We find our families by asking the community for nominations of qualifying local breast cancer patients, and the committee makes the final selections based on the details of the financial need and family situation. These grants help survivors dealing with financial hardships have a potential source to ease that burden.

(There is no staff, just 3 volunteers that coordinate this endowment fund - less than 5% covers expenses and 95%+ goes directly to help survivors.)
