Dubuque/Jackson Counties Habitat for Humanity

A nonprofit organization

Families seeking to build a Habitat home know what it is like to choose between paying rent or filling a prescription. They have decided between buying groceries or a tank of gas. Often, their housing is overcrowded and in poor condition. Habitat offers a path to homeownership designed to allow families to invest in their home and their future.

We partner with families that demonstrate a need for quality, affordable housing, are willing and able to pay an affordable mortgage, and are ready to work and learn the skills necessary to be successful homeowners. Every Habitat home offers partner families an opportunity to transform their lives and give back to their community. Since incorporation in 1991, we have partnered with 31 families, built 24 homes, and have more on the way.

The need for affordable housing is growing, and the Dubuque and Jackson Counties Habitat for Humanity is growing too! In 2020, we broke ground on two houses and hired a full-time Construction Manager. We opened a Habitat ReStore in 2022 and our goal is to more than triple our home production. The dedicated leaders that make up our Board of Directors continue to reach into the community and develop partnerships to support the community and the environment.

Your decision to join the community of volunteers, businesses, and organizations taking action to increase the quality and availability of housing matters. Volunteer labor allows us to keep building costs low. Habitat sponsors, volunteers, and invested community members work alongside partner families to address their housing needs. When you give, we build. We build with families to make a home. We build with volunteers to foster community. We bring people together to build hope.
