The Crocus Foundation

The Crocus Foundation provides individualized, exercise-based cancer rehabilitation designed in coordination with healthcare providers. Through prescribed one-on-one coaching, supportive wellness services, and scholarships that remove financial barriers, individuals are supported during and beyond treatment as they rebuild strength, restore function, and regain confidence in daily life.

As this work has grown, so has the need. Each year, more individuals in our community are navigating cancer, and access to structured survivorship care remains limited. The Crocus Foundation is working to expand access to evidence-based rehabilitation and whole-person support that helps people move forward with strength and independence.

The foundation was inspired by the life and example of J. Bruce Meriwether, whose leadership was defined by courage, conviction, and a deep commitment to strengthening the community around him.

During his experience with cancer, those closest to Bruce witnessed firsthand the impact that structured, monitored exercise had on his strength, resilience, and overall quality of life. It reinforced something he had long believed, that movement supports recovery, and that staying engaged physically and mentally can help individuals navigate even the most difficult circumstances.

Bruce believed strong communities are built when people step forward to serve others and meet real needs. That belief continues to guide this work today.
