Housing/Shelter Support Fund

Housing is a basic human need.  

Help us take care of our fellow community members by providing them with temporary emergency shelter in their time of need.  

Throughout their history in Clinton, the Sisters of St. Francis have tried to meet the needs of the times... education, care for the elderly, speech pathology... now housing is a need.  The need has continued to grow over the years.  

This fund was established to help provide immediate, safe housing to individuals or families in crisis who have lost housing.  It allows them a brief time to figure out where they will go and determine what the next steps are to stabilize their current situation.

Many people in our area are one crisis - a job loss, a major illness, or an unexpected expense - away from losing their housing. Each person has their own story, dreams, and challenges.  People experiencing homelessness often face unfair judgments and assumptions about their character or worthiness.  They are not bad people.  They do not wish to be homeless.  Many are working, attending school, or caring for children.  Most are long-time Clinton residents... Clinton natives. 

Your support of this fund will have a direct impact on the lives of people living in our community, who are experiencing one of the most difficult times in their lives.  Provide safety, help, dignity, and hope to someone at their lowest point.  

Clinton will be an even better community if we support each other in times of need.  

Donations of $50 or more to the Housing/Shelter Support fund are eligible for the 25% Endow Iowa Tax Credit, along with federal charitable deductions. This means your generosity not only transforms lives but also provides financial benefits for you as a donor.
