Dear Friends,

On behalf of the board of directors, program participants, and community partners of Fountain of Youth, we invite you to consider becoming a contributor to the hard work of intervening in and overcoming generational poverty.
We ask you to join us in our mission. The work is not easy or simple, but it is not insurmountable. It requires commitment, dedication, and hope.

We understand the demand for moving forward beyond the storm of the pandemic and the challenges day to day to pick up the pieces. Facing the challenge of our yesterday’s always presents an opportunity for better tomorrow’s. 

Our organization is delighted to do the boots on the groundwork that opens the doors to getting down to the root of the issues. Dubuque’s citizens have possibly faced and dealt with these issues on their own for many years! We are the Fountain of Youth Program, and we are here to help change the mindsets that contribute to generational poverty!

We provide education, job training, and the social skills required to navigate through the cultural divides in our society. So many community members have already joined in our critical work. Thank you for your consideration of bringing your gifts to this important effort.

"Linda has completed phase 2 of Partners in Change, covering Career Readiness. Ms. Nevels started working with our program in 2021 and has undergone an extensive application and interview process with Mercy Hospital, for a position in one of their departments! She was offered, & accepted, a position with Mercy Hospital and has started her first job since relocating to the Dubuque area, embarking on what she hopes will be a new and continuing career with Mercy health organization. Since accepting the career opportunity Linda has started saving and has now moved into her first apartment! We have a participant who has accomplished several goals throughout the course of the program. He has gained stable employment earning a living wage and he has purchased a new vehicle to eliminate a transportation barrier. He also received another raise in pay and has been spending quality time with his son. 

Another participant has worked with Iowa works to build a resume and brush up her interview skills. She has become more aware of her strengths and learned how to identify when she needs help and to ask for it. She has also learned to understand the importance of transparency and has developed a new sense of confidence and has also learned to understand the importance of transparency and has developed a new sense of confidence. She celebrated 2 months sober and is currently interviewing to find a career.
